OECD: A Summary on Religiosity and Morale (III)

Part III of morale issues in OECD countries and its correlation with religiosity (“How is God important in your life” statement).

Unlike part II, the morale issues which deal with sexuality, part III looked at the issues like abortion, euthanasia and suicide which relates to the sanctity of human life. And unlike sexuality issues which show no observable correlation between religiosity and the justification/opinion on those issues, religiosity seemed to show stronger and negative correlation towards the following issues as shown below:

‘8 ) How is God important in your life vs Morale justifiable- Abortion:

* Moderate and negative correlation (Rsquare=0.399) between religiosity and how justifiable on the issue of abortion: the more God is important in their lives in the country, the less justifiable they think the abortion is.

9) How is God important in your life vs Morale justifiable – Euthanasia:

* Moderate and negative correlation (Rsquare=0.309) between religiosity and how justifiable on the issue of euthanasia: the more God is important in their lives in the country, the less justifiable they think the euthanasia is.

10) How is God important in your life vs Morale justifiable – Suicide:

* Moderate and negative correlation (Rsquare=0.305) between religiosity and how justifiable on the issue of suicide: the more God is important in their lives in the country, the less justifiable they think the suicide is.
