All things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole nowadays?

Caterogical answers were given, such as: where 0 means extremely dissatisfied and 10 means extremely satisfied. Mean score value was calculated from the answers and tabulated according to gender and marital status, as seen below, with the comparison of year 2002, 2004 and 2006:

Gender Marital Status 2002 2004 2006
Male Married   7.15 6.97 6.95
Separated   6.37 5.99 5.60
Divorced   6.59 6.34 6.26
Widowed   6.53 6.33 6.18
Never married   7.07 7.02 6.98
Overall average 7.06 6.91 6.86

Never married   7.24 7.10 7.07
Overall average 7.06 6.86 6.71
Total  7.06 6.88 6.78

MeThink: on average…
- the satisfaction with life as whole has decreased over the years and it is true for both gender.
- overall, women feel slightly more satisfied with their life as compared to men for year 2002 and 2004 but not year 2006.
- for men, the satisfaction with life goes with the marital status as followed: married = never married > divorced > widowed > separated.
- OTOH, for women, the satisfaction with life goes: never married > married > divorced > widowed > separated.
